Time is Flying

"The bad news is time is flying by. The good news is you are the pilot."  Michael Altshuler

Time is flying by!  Don't waste another day filled with anger or bitterness. It only robs you of the joy of life!

Seize each and every day with all of the happiness and laughter you can.

I, just like so many others, have come to understand that life can be filled with hardship and pain.  But in order to live a fulfilled life, we have to embrace the good that life has to offer and push through the adversity.

Enjoy your family and friends and serve others.   That's a Powerful Life!

7 Reasons To Give Someone A Hug

Are you a hugger? I know I am. There is something powerful, even electric when someone gives you a hug. I do notice a huge difference between giving a hug and getting a hug. I have to say that between the two, I like giving the hug. Have you ever noticed how two friends who have not seen each other in a long time embrace? The look on their faces? It's a gesture that reconnects their two spirits. I know it sounds weird, but it's true. You know I'm right. I am sure you have experienced the feeling at least once. If you haven't, here are seven reasons you should hug someone:
  • Hugs can relieve stress - ever feel stressed out and then someone gives you a big hug? For the few moments of embrace, everything in the world seems to be right. A calm sets in.
  • Hugs let you know someone cares - if the person giving the hug did not care, believe me there would be no hug. They are giving something of themselves.
  • Hugs can heal - have you ever seen a child or even an adult who is in pain or crying? The first thing the children look for is their mother or father, and when they are lifted from the ground and embraced, the pain and tears quickly subside. For an adult, there is an assurance that they are not alone.
  • Hugs bond - when I see one of my male friends, we first shake hands and then hug. Sometimes it's the hand and shoulder bump, but most times it's a big hug.
  • Hugs connect - there is an undeniable connection between two people who hug. They are as one.
  • Hugs make you feel special - the warmth and feeling of care that emanates from one person to another makes you feel incredibly special and loved.
  • Hugs are powerful - whatever you are going through, whether it is bad or good, a huge hug is such a powerful gesture that cannot be ignored.
I am not a doctor, but if you hug someone at least twice a day, once in the morning, and once in the evening, believe me, it's good medicine. Go ahead, give two hugs and call me in the morning.

A Good Deed

On my way into my favorite coffee shop, before I got to the front door a man of lean stature with a smile on his face not only opened the door for me, but waved me in like the doorman of a fine hotel.

I thanked him, and he then encouraged me to go before him in line. While I was paying for my coffee, something prodded me to pay for his coffee as well. After his initial surprise, and that of the Barista, he thanked me.

I then met him in the condiment line, and as I was putting my cream and sugar in my coffee, we spoke about the importance of doing something nice for someone else. It is especially important in a day and time when there is so much ugliness in the world. Little opportunities to serve and extend a courtesy to someone else can make a big difference in someone else's day and life.

The simple act of someone opening a door for me sure made a difference in my day! Pay it forward!
